The Process of Porcelain Veneers

When you come to Diggers Rest Dental House for porcelain veneers, we will be able to show you what they will look like before the work even begins. Thanks to Digital Smile Design, or DSD, you can try on different shapes or styles of veneers on screen and then choose the ideal look for you. We can also create a composite mockup that you can wear for a while to see if you will truly be happy with your new smile. Either way, we will work with you so that you are satisfied with the results and confident in your choice.

We use a process for porcelain veneers to ensure that we get it right. The following are the steps to getting porcelain veneers:

We will do an initial dental checkup in which we will collect the data we need to begin your smile treatment plan. This may include x-rays, photos and an oral examination to ensure your teeth are healthy enough for veneers.

If you request it, we can use DSD so you can see your future smile. Also called treatment planning, this process may take one or two visits.

We will prepare your teeth for the approved veneers. You may receive the composite mockups at this point for a trial run with your new smile.

This step may last one or two weeks so that you have time to have minor changes made. We want to ensure that you get the results you expect and deserve.

You will receive your final porcelain veneers. They will be placed on your teeth and polished to match the sheen of your other teeth.

The process of getting porcelain veneers may take from two to four weeks, in total. That’s because we want you to be confident in the final outcome. We will communicate with you throughout the process to ensure we share the same goals with your new smile.

Do not open bottles with your teeth!

Absolutely no biting on hard objects like pens or ice cubes

Brush at least twice each day

Floss or use an intraoral device to clean between teeth

Maintain regular dental checkups to ensure there are no issues around your veneers

If your veneers feel different or off in any way, call and schedule a checkup with us right away

Get professional dental cleanings to keep plaque and calculus away from surrounding teeth

Wear a mouthguard while playing sports

Teeth grinding or bruxism can damage veneers. If you suspect that you grind your teeth, talk to your dentist about getting a custom mouthguard to protect your teeth at night. In most cases, your dentist can see signs of bruxism and take steps to help.
